I’m Lauren Rubenstein, a licensed psychologist, author, and yoga/meditation teacher based in Bethesda, MD. For over 30 years, I’ve had the privilege of walking alongside clients as they navigate anxiety, depression, stress, and life transitions.
My approach is collaborative — we’ll slow down, explore what’s beneath the surface, and create a path that feels authentic and sustainable for you. I draw from a variety of tools, including mindfulness, yoga, cognitive-behavioral strategies, and insight-oriented therapy. I love weaving together Western psychology with Eastern practices so therapy feels both grounding and expansive.
My Philosophy
I believe therapy should feel human, not clinical. That means you won’t just get “strategies” — you’ll get a safe, compassionate space where you can breathe, reflect, and grow. Together, we’ll look at patterns, untangle what’s no longer serving you, and develop new ways of being that bring clarity and calm.
My Background
Alongside my clinical practice, I teach yoga and mindfulness to children, educators, and other therapists. I’ve written for the American Psychological Association, including my children’s book Visiting Feelings, which schools use for social-emotional learning.
I’ve also trained in a range of modalities — from trauma-sensitive yoga to mind-body medicine — I’m always looking for ways to support healing in a holistic, integrated way.
